Caroline's cheese and bovril scones

These scones are so delicious I'll guarantee there'll be none left.  I have used vegemite or marmite instead of the bovril and they were still nice but bovril is really best.  We used to eat these for tennis tea on the lawn at beautiful Holmwood Farm.

1 cup flour
1 cup grated cheese
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soft butter
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt

Beat the egg and milk, add the other ingredients and mix well.  Spoon into greased patty tins and bake in a hot oven (200C) for 10 minutes.

While they bake melt together

3 tbsp butter
2 tsp bovril

and pour over the hot scones as they come out of the oven.
